KEIS is proud to announce another new PYP Teacher, Ms Christina Teague. She will be joining us in August, ready for our opening in September to act as classroom teacher for PYP 5-6 (upper primary class). Here is a short introduction and welcome letter from Ms Teague to our KEIS Learning Community.
Hello KEIS!
I’m thrilled to be joining the teaching team at KEIS. I am from Seattle, Washington, USA, where I started teaching. I have been educating children around the world since 2001. Some of my most memorable experiences in international education have been as a founding head teacher of an English kindergarten in Seoul, Korea, a Middle and Primary teacher in Thailand and the USA, including IB experience in Portugal and Czech Republic. More recently, I have taught at zakladná škola as well as at a bilingual gymnásium here in Slovakia. I have a diverse range of curricula experience and I understand the kind of education students need in the 21st century.
Many people are surprised when I say that I love living here in Košice, but it’s true. I love the city and my life here. I am looking forward to creating a school that feels like a second family – a place students look forward to coming to each day – a place where our learning experiences take action.
What I love about the PYP is that it aligns with what I believe education should be. My students will have a voice and become empowered in their learning by asking questions, collaborating, and leading the direction of our inquiries of who we are, how we express ourselves, how the world works, where we are in place and time, how we organise ourselves, and sharing the planet.
I am looking forward to being part of the founding team and sharing the KEIS vision: children innovating the future.
